Autumn in the North Carolina Mountains

It is October 13th, 2016 and the overnight lows over the last two nights have really triggered some added color to the mountains. We were over in Banner Elk this afternoon and snapped this colorful shot of some pumpkins and more. The leaf color is really changing now around Hwy 105 up around Grandfather Mountain and as you get into Banner Elk, which is home to the Annual Woolly Worm Festival this weekend.

With the cold snap that is coming in, we’re thinking that PEAK colors may not hit the area for another week yet, but there should be plenty of color this weekend for the tens of thousands of visitors who will be in the area for the Valle Crucis Fair and Woolly Worm Festivities.

The weather should be great for some outdoor fun as well.
