Boone/Banner Elk Area Mountain Forecast 7-20-12

Heavy cloud cover has already moved into the region ahead of an approaching cold front.  Expect to see showers and thunderstorms pick up in intensity later this afternoon and lasting into the evening hours.  The rain will be heavy at times.

The front will move through from the north tomorrow but it will stall out and remain in the region for the weekend.  You can expect more clouds and showers tomorrow unfortunately.  Precipitation chances go down on Sunday and we will see intervals of sunshine throughout the day.

In general, the next few days we should see a decent amount of rain.  The HPC has a forecast graphic that puts us in the 1″ – 1.5″ range, so today and tomorrow will be rather soggy.

The front will dissipate on Monday and high pressure will move in once again for the first part of next week before another front moves into the region on Wednesday.
