Heat Wave Coming to an End for the NC Mountains 7-9-12

It may be Monday, but there is good news to talk about.  The unseasonably warm weather of the past few weeks looks to be coming to a conclusion after today!  The rest of the week will see high temperatures in the 70’s with a significant chance of rain each day.

A cold front is approaching the region from the north today.  This is a slow moving front and will actually have an impact on our weather through the end of the work work.  Ahead of the front today, we will see one more day with highs in the 80’s.  Showers and thunderstorms are a good bet this afternoon and some of these could be severe.

The front will gradually move through the region tomorrow, meaning showers and thunderstorms will once again be prevalent across the area.  Cloud cover will help keep temperatures in the mid 70’s for most locations.

The front will become stationary once it moves to our south.  It will set up shop over the upstate of South Carolina and Georgia, bringing about the possibility for precipitation each day through Friday.  Temperatures will remain much cooler than in recent weeks, with highs generally in the low to mid 70’s for Wednesday through Friday.
