Lots of Clouds this Week NC 9-16-13

A weak cold front will pass through from the northwest today.  Weak is the key word in that sentence as we are not expected to see anything in the way of precipitation.  However, generally cloudy skies will prevail today, as will a gusty northwest wind.  That wind is pretty strong up on Beech this morning based on the webcam.

High pressure sets up shop over the Northeast on Tuesday and Wednesday, creating a wedge setup.  This means foggy, cloudy, cooler conditions with isolated light showers.  As is the case with a wedge, the eastern portion of the region will see the worst of conditions.

Thursday won't be perfect, but it'll be an improvement over Tuesday and Wednesday.  A lot of clouds will still be prevalent but we should see some intervals of sunshine and temps will be a few degrees warmer.  Scattered afternoon showers are something we'll have to contend with though.

The final day of the work week will see temps increase a few more degrees over Thursday, even with cloud cover remaining.  Afternoon scattered showers and storms look like a good bet right now.

I wish I had better news for the weekend, but a cold front moves through during the day on Saturday producing showers and more grey skies.  Sunday looks grey too, but precip potential will be lower.
