More Snow to Look Forward to WV 1-24-13

Well, the minor snow event that was expected a few days ago actually turned into a pretty decent snowfall event for the ski areas in the northern portions of the state.  Snowshoe, Timberline, and Canaan are reporting in the 5.5″-8″ range this morning.  Leftover snow showers this morning should taper off later this afternoon.  Additional accumulations will be minimal.  Temperatures will remain very chilly today and the winds will make for some blustery conditions.  Bundle up!

Another system will bring more snow tomorrow, beginning in the afternoon.  Snow showers continue overnight and will linger into Saturday.  Accumulations look to be pretty decent with this system thanks to a good bit of moisture being associated with it.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see 4-8″ across the state at the ski areas, possibly even more for the more favored locations.

Sunday will see things clear out.  Sunshine returns and temperatures will rebound nicely.  It’s going to be a great day on the slopes.

Mild temperatures return Monday and Tuesday.  A weak disturbance will bring cloud cover and a chance of rain both days.
