High pressure will briefly be over the region today. A stationary front is located to our south and is the reason for cloud cover across much of the High Country this morning. Expect this cloud cover to thin out somewhat by the afternoon as the front drifts further south. Temperatures will be very mild today.

An area of low pressure will work it’s way across the Deep South today, making it’s way up into Tennessee by the late afternoon. Cloud cover will increase once again later this afternoon as the system approaches. Showers will begin overnight and last through tomorrow, with the rain being very heavy at times. Rainfall totals are expected to be in the 1-2″ range.

A separate cold front will move through in the afternoon on Thursday. Once the colder air begins to filter into the region behind the front, expect a changeover from rain to snow at night. Snow showers will last into Friday morning. At this time, significant accumulations are not expected.

High pressure moves in on Friday and will remain through the weekend. Temperatures will remain CHILLY though, with around the clock snowmaking possible at the ski areas.
