North Carolina High Country Forecast 6-29-12

A strong upper level ridge has made it’s way into the region.  In addition, high pressure at the surface is also in place.  As a result, ridiculously hot weather is in our future.  Today and tomorrow will be particularly miserable, as high temperatures will make it into the low 90’s for a lot of locations.  The only saving grace is the fact that dewpoints won’t be terribly high today, so humidity levels will stay in check.  That said, it’s still going to be HOT!

Sunday will remain unseasonably warm but it will be a few degrees cooler than today and tomorrow.  Highs will still soar into the mid to upper 80’s though.  A sagging cold front from the north could create some Sunday afternoon showers/thunderstorms, but these will be isolated at best.

The heat remains for the first half of next week.  Unfortunately, the humidity levels will increase as well, bringing about more opportunities for afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Stay cool this weekend!
