Scattered Showers and T-Storms in the Foreseeable Future NC 5-17-13

A stretch of unsettled weather begins today.  The next week looks to see scattered showers and thunderstorms each day as we remain in a warm and moist airmass.  Over the next week, the WPC precip forecast has the High Country in the 2-3″ range.

A stalled frontal boundary to our north will move south today and set up shop over the region for  the entirety of the weekend.  As temperatures and moisture content increases through the day today, look for scattered showers and thunderstorms to begin to pop up later this afternoon.

The combination of a mid-level disturbance and the frontal boundary will keep showers and thunderstorms going through the weekend.  Temps will be bumped down several degrees from today.

The front lifts off to the north Monday but we will remain in a warm and moist airmass.  Temperatures will be warm and daytime heating will lead to instability in the atmosphere which will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms each day though Wednesday.
