Snow Through Sunday NC 2-28-13

Snow showers began last night and have continued into today.  Outside of the higher elevations near the NC/TN line, not much has accumulated elsewhere.  Northwest flow continues through Sunday which will keep the snow showers going during that time period.  A huge trough will engulf the eastern portion of the country this weekend and bring in a reinforcing shot of cold air.  Basically, now through Sunday will feature cold temps and on and off again snow showers.  March is starting off right!

Significant accumulations look to be isolated to higher elevations near the NC/TN border.  By Sunday, a foot of snow from this event is possible in those spots.  Totals will drastically tail off the further east you go and areas on the eastern side of the mountains will only see a couple inches.

Monday is the calm before our next storm as sunshine briefly returns.  Another system brings snow back into play beginning late Thursday.
