Summer-Esque Weather NC 4-9-13

Summer has arrived!  Just kidding.  It’s still spring but the next few days will have you thinking otherwise.  High pressure over the western Atlantic is pumping in some very warm and moist air from the south.  Today and tomorrow will feature unseasonably warm temperatures and sunshine.  It’s going to be awesome!

A strong cold front is making it’s way across the country this week and will begin to approach on Thursday.  Showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon are expected and will last into the overnight hours.  This system looks to bring a pretty good soaking, as an inch plus is expected with higher amounts forecasted for the southwestern portion of the state.

The front passes through early Friday morning.  Showers will last through midday before tapering off.  Temperatures behind the frontal passage will be on the cool side.  High pressure then begins to build back in for the weekend.  It’s going to be rather pleasant, but temps will remain cool.
