Unsettled Weather This Weekend VA 3-15-13

Warmer than in recent days temperatures arrive today as we’ll see highs reach somewhat seasonable levels for this time of year. A mix of clouds and sunshine will make for a pretty decent end of the work week.

Unsettled weather returns for the weekend as a backdoor front will become stationary and linger in the region, creating mostly cloudy skies and chances of rain each day. It’s not exactly the best weather conditions some of the ski areas were hoping for on their final weekend of the 2012/2013 season.

That stationary front will sag south Sunday, and then lift back north on Monday ahead of a separate cold front. Rain showers continue Sunday night and Monday as this happens. The secondary cold front looks to move through the region Monday night and showers will continue into the first part of Tuesday before tapering off in the morning.

Cool high pressure builds in during the latter half of Tuesday and will stick around for a few days. Temperatures look to be a few degrees below normal for Tuesday through Thursday.
