Warm Temperatures Continue Today, Big Changes Ahead 10-5-12

Unseasonably warm temperatures continue for one more day.  Sunshine and temperatures in the low 70’s will make for a very nice end to the work week.  Enjoy it because big changes are in store.

A strong cold front will move through early in the day tomorrow.  Not a lot of precipitation will be assiciated with the passage of the front, but there will be scattered showers possible across the region tomorrow.

Rain chances pick up Saturday night as an area of low pressure will begin to track along the front from the southwest.  Upper level energy accompanies this disturbance at the surface on Sunday which will enhance precipitation.  Much colder air arrives as well.  High temperatures will be 20+ degrees colder on Sunday than what they will be today.  Basically, Sunday is going to be a great day to stay inside and watch football.

Showers taper off late on Sunday and we’ll then see some very chilly overnight lows.  Near freezing temperatures are expected for lower elevations, while some of the higher ones will probably see the thermometer dip below 32.  Brrr.

High pressure settles back in on Monday.  Sunshine returns but temperatures will remain on the cool side.  Folks in the valleys can expect to see frost when they wake up Tuesday morning.

Tuesday sees more sunshine and temperatures will increase several degrees.  Our next frontal system arrives on Wednesday.
