16 inches of SNOW falls in the Mountains of North Carolina and More is Forcasted for Today!

16″ of new snow has fallen at Beech Mountain in the last two days creating POWDER conditions for the ski resorts of the region. MORE SNOW is in the forecast for today with another 5″ or so of snow possible through Monday night.

We’re getting some reports of nearly two feet of snow around Wolf Ridge, and 9″ or so in Davis, West Virginia.

Milder temps are forecasted for later in the week and ski conditions will be nothing short of awesome.

WEST VIRGINIA SKIER’S FORECAST:

Today: Snow showers and areas of blowing snow before 3pm, then snow showers likely and areas of blowing snow after 3pm. High near 11. Wind chill values as low as -18. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 23 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow showers likely and areas of blowing snow before 11pm, then scattered snow showers after 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -11. Windy, with a northwest wind 25 to 28 mph decreasing to between 15 and 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of snow, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 24. Wind chill values as low as -9. West wind 15 to 18 mph decreasing to between 5 and 8 mph. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Breezy, with a west wind between 19 and 22 mph becoming calm. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33. Light west wind.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of freezing rain and sleet after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: A chance of freezing rain before 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: A chance of snow, mainly before 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 13. Wind chill values as low as -3. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 13 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values as low as -1. Northwest wind between 10 and 14 mph.
