Mild Weather for the Week Ahead NC 1-7-13

After several weeks of colder weather, a stretch of milder weather is in our future.  The next couple of days will see moderating temperatures before the real January thaw sets in this weekend.

Today and tomorrow will see a good bit of sunshine and warmer temperatures.  Bluebird skies will make for some fun skiing conditions if you can get out and make some turns.  Overnight inversions will make for chilly Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the valleys and limit snowmaking at the ski areas.

Wednesday sees the onset of cloud cover as a warm front associated with a low pressure system approaches from the south.  Showers are possible Wednesday night and are a good bet for Thursday as the front moves north through the region during the day.

Showers continue and cloud cover remains on Friday as the cold front on the backside of the low pressure system pushes through from the west.

Moist, southerly wind flow this weekend will create very mild conditions and keep partly cloudy skies in the forecast.  High temperatures look to be 15-20 degrees above normal.

Our next frontal system moves through Sunday night and looks to bring more precip along with it.
