Snow Showers Tapering Off Later Today

As expected, the rain turned to snow yesterday by late afternoon.  Accumulations were fairly significant at higher elevations with Beech Mountain topping out at 4″.  Boone and most other area totals were anywhere from a dusting to an inch.

Northwest winds continue to persist this morning.  As a result, we will continue to see light snow showers this morning that will taper off by lunch time.  The clouds will begin to roll out later in the day and tomorrow we will see a return to sunshine.  A drastic warmup is also in store for tomorrow with highs in the mid 50’s at most locations.  A fast moving cold front will cross the region Saturday night, bringing a very slight possibility of rain with it on Sunday.

As always, check your location for a more detailed forecast.
