Summer Temps Today, Fall Weather by Friday

What an absolutely gorgeous start to the work week!  Sunshine is a plenty across the High Country this morning with temperatures generally in the mid to upper 50’s at most locations.  The drive up from Charlotte this morning sure was a treat.

High pressure at the surface will make for some great weather over the next few days.  A departing weak upper low could create some isolated showers this afternoon, but most folks will stay dry.  Temperatures through Wednesday will be slightly above average actually, with highs in the low to mid 70’s across the region.

Big changes are in store for the second half of the week, as we are going to see our first taste of fall weather.  A strong cold front will move through the region on Thursday.  Cloud coverage will increase throughout the day, with showers beginning later in the afternoon.  Precipitation should end by lunchtime on Friday for the most part.

The big story with this front though is the MUCH cooler air associated with it.  High temperatures on Friday will struggle to reach 60 degrees.  Saturday and Sunday will be slightly warmer, but still below normal.  I don’t know about you guys, but I am ready for it!
