Sunny Today, Cold on the Way

The great weather that we saw this weekend continues for today as high pressure is in control for one more day.  Cloud cover this morning will thin out a bit, but won’t disappear completely.  Despite that, today will be quite pleasant with partly sunny skies and temperatures getting up to around 70 or so by the afternoon.

Hopefully you can get out and enjoy the great weather today, because the next few days will be much different.  A cold front currently stretches from Ohio down through western Tennessee and into Louisiana.  It will slowly make it’s way east over the next day and begin to approach our area by the latter half of tomorrow.  Cloud cover will thicken throughout the day with showers and thunderstorms commencing in the late afternoon hours and lasting through Wednesday morning.

Temperatures behind the front on Wednesday will be much colder than what we’ve seen lately.  Highs will struggle to reach 50 and mostly cloudy skies will prevail.  Lows on Wednesday night will dip below freezing at the higher elevations.  Frost is a good bet for the valleys and most other locations.

We’ll warmup on Thursday as the sun returns, but it’s a good bet that many areas will see frost on the ground Friday morning.
