Milder Weather Ahead This Week VA 1-7-13

January 7, 2013Virginiaadmin

After several weeks of colder weather, a stretch of milder weather is in our future. The next couple of days will see moderating temperatures before the real January thaw sets in this weekend.

Today and tomorrow will see a good bit of sunshine and warmer temperatures. Bluebird skies will make for some fun skiing conditions if you can get out and make some turns. Snowmaking looks to be possible tonight as lows dip into the mid to upper 20’s.  After that, it looks like it might be a while before the ski areas can do so again.

Wednesday will see even warmer temperatures but cloud cover will be increased.

The onset of thick cloud cover begins on Thursday as a front assicated with a low pressure system approaches from the south.  Showers are expected overnight as the front moves through the region

Showers continue and cloud cover remains on Friday as the cold front on the backside of the low pressure system pushes through from the west.

Moist, southerly wind flow this weekend will create very mild conditions and keep clouds in the forecast. High temperatures look to be 15 degrees above normal.

Our next frontal system moves through Sunday night and looks to bring more precip along with it.
