NC Resorts 1-13-12

Here are the snow totals at the ski resorts as of this morning:

Beech – 4″
Sugar – 4″
App – 2-3″
Wolf Ridge – 1″
Cataloochee – 1″

Snow showers continue this morning for the northern portions of the NC mountains.  We should see those taper off as the day wears on.  Temperatures remain bitterly cold though and wind chill values will be in the single digits as a strong northwest wind produces some very strong gusts.

High pressure builds in for tomorrow and sunshine will return in the afternoon.  Temps will remain chilly though as highs will only rise into the 20’s to around 30 for most locations.

A clipper system brings the chance for snow flurries overnight on Saturday, but significant accumulations are not expected at this time.

Sunday sees a good deal of sunshine with moderating temperatures.

Monday looks to be the best day of MLK weekend.  We’ll see much warmer temps with plenty of sunshine.  Clouds begin to increase during the late afternoon as our next weather system approaches, moving through on Tuesday.
