Unsettled Weather This Weekend, Cold Next Week NC 3-22-13

Enjoy the sunshine today while you can because the next several days will see the return of unsettled weather and snow showers even return to the forecast by the beginning of next week.

Unseasonably chilly temperatures persist once again today.  Sunshine during the first half of the day will give way to increased cloud cover in the afternoon as an influx of moist air streams into the region.  The combination of this and an upper level disturbance will create the chance of scattered showers tonight and tomorrow.  Light snow showers are possible tonight but we’ll get above freezing tomorrow so any precip that falls then will be of the liquid kind.

Heavy rain arrives Saturday night as a system begins to track from Louisiana to the mid-Atlantic states.  A secondary low will actually develop off the Carolina coast and we’ll get sandwiched in between two areas of low pressure.  Heavy rain continues Sunday before a changeover to snow occurs sometime in the evening.  Snow showers overnight will likely continue through Monday.

Northwest flow will keep scattered snow showers going through Wednesday.  It’s going to remain unseasonably cold during this time period as well.  Go home spring, you’re drunk.
