A Snowy Weekend On the Way

We are following the Yellow Brick Road into the weekend, and it is leading us to incredible conditions instead of the Emerald City.

It is a calm before the storm morning across the area as we await the first round of snow to come in later this morning.

That sets the stage for the weekend as the Northwest Flow will engage on Saturday and Sunday.

Our own Brad Panovich shared his latest Skier’s Forecast late last night and this holiday weekend looks outstanding.

For the latest slope conditions, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

Still wondering about that Wizard of Oz reference at the top? Oz Run at Beech Mountain has opened today to headline the list of new terrain open for play.

Today’s featured image is from the village at Beech Mountain Resort.

It is pretty exciting to see Beech Mountain at 100% joining App Ski Mountain and Cataloochee in the 100% club for the weekend.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see another resort or two inch right up close to 100% by the time Monday rolls around either.

It is going to be an incredible weekend. Albeit, it will be a busy weekend as well.

If you don’t have your lift tickets for the weekend, I highly recommend trying to purchase them this morning if possible as we have already seen several resorts hit their capacity limit for some weekend sessions and a few others are nearing it.

Be sure to visit their websites for the latest information and to purchase tickets in advance.

If you are hitting the slopes, a couple of tips to help you get the most out of your day this weekend (and really any other busy time frame).

  • First chair or burst. A great way to get some early morning laps in will be to be there and be ready to hit the chair as soon as the lifts start spinning. Not to mention the early bird gets the corduroy.
  • Ski at night. Granted this one isn’t possible at all resorts, but skiing at night generally has lighter crowds during the day.
  • Eat at off times. Eat an earlier lunch or later lunch but try to avoid the noon hour. While most people are off to find lunch then, you will be able to keep on riding.
Also, don’t forget to send us pictures from your time out on the slopes. We would love to see them!

That does it for me today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
