Grayish Monday To Kick Off The Home Stretch Of The Season

Today’s featured image is from Canaan Valley.

The final weeks of the season are upon us.

It is always a sad time when the resorts go into hibernation for the ski season, but next season will be here before you know it.

There is still time left to get some last-minute turns in before the season comes to a close as some resorts will look to stay open another two weeks.

Monday is going to be a gray day across the region but should be mostly dry until the evening hours. We could potentially see a wintry mix at Snowshoe and the other northern resorts, but the southern resorts will see underdeveloped snow.

Today sets the tone for the week as it will be mostly overcast with rain at various points throughout the week. However, it will not be a complete washout in the slightest.

There is still a lot of fun to be had on the slopes over the next couple of weeks.

On Sunday, I was reminded that it had been one year since our season came to an abrupt halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Snowshoe shared a letter on Facebook from President and COO Patti Duncan that I thought was a great read.

For me, the last few weeks of winter are always a time of reflection. It’s a chance to pause and look back at the season…

It is hard to believe that was just a year ago – it seems like yesterday and five years ago all at the same time.

Fortunately, it looks like we are going to reach the finish line of the season with the closing decision being driven by a lack of skier visits and conditions over the next couple of weeks.

Conditions continue to look great – Snowshoe even made snow overnight. For the complete details, be sure to hop over to the Snow Reports page.

Here is a quick look at the open resorts:
