If you are into old wives’ tales, you have to love what I heard on Monday night.
As the rain swept through the southern part of the area overnight, there were a few rounds of thunder that echoed through the valley.
Why is that exciting?
The folklore says when you hear thunder in the winter (some versions say in January) then you will see snow in the next 7-10 days with another saying that you can expect snow on the heels of winter thunder.
This prediction is hopefully going to come true as snow is in our forecast for the end of this week.
Before we get to the snow, we have to get through a mildish Tuesday before another cool down – we are talking 30-degree differences in today’s high compared to Friday’s highs.

Wednesday rain will turn into snow on Wednesday night and last into Thursday morning with accumulations in the 1-3″ ballpark with the way things are looking right now.
With the natural snow and return of snowmaking temperatures (#ThankASnowmaker), this weekend is going to be fantastic. Today will be a great day to start planning your trip if you haven’t already.
As I mentioned, today is on the milder side, but the softer snow will be a blast to play on. It won’t be a true bluebird day as we will have a mix of sun and clouds, but it is going to be a beautiful day.
