Snow For Friday To Kick Off The Weekend

Today’s featured image is from Canaan Valley.

There is nothing like getting a little snow to kick off the weekend.

After a roller coaster weather week, we will see snow in a few locations today as we slide into the weekend.

We aren’t talking about anything major, but a good 2-4″ accumulation is better than zero.

Our own Brad Panovich shared his latest Skier’s Forecast overnight and talked about today’s snow.

He also talked about some of the underdeveloped snow for the rest of the weekend as well as looked ahead to the first weekend of March.

Conditions will still be pretty fantastic all things considered. Base depths won’t be an issue and you may have to dodge some scattered rain, but it will be possible to have a great time on the slopes this weekend.

For the full conditions update, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

A couple of quick notes from around the area.

  • Cataloochee announced that March 6 will be the last time this season that night skiing is offered at the resort. Cataloochee doesn’t have a season-end date yet.
  • March 7 will be the last day of the season for Ski Sapphire. Ski Sapphire opens today at noon for the weekend.
  • Massanutten is sold out for all sessions today and tomorrow. A few other resorts have limited availability so be sure to buy tickets in advance.
  • Tonight is the kickoff for a two-night torchlight parade at Canaan Valley and Timberline. Tonight’s event is at Timberline, while the festivities move to Canaan Valley on Saturday night.

If you are able to get out and ride, be sure to send us your photos and trip reports – we want to hear about your trips!
