In the announcement, the resort said that the move was prompted due to the unseasonably warm November and the overall lack of snowmaking opportunities so far.

The mountain op crew at Snowshoe has been hard at work this week as they are taking advantage of a snowmaking window, and some light natural snow is also falling on Cheat Mountain. Showshoe was able to make snow Halloween weekend as well.

Snowshoe Village will still open in time for the Thanksgiving holiday for dining, shopping and other adventure activities.
