Some Much Needed Rain Today

A low pressure system is tracking across the central portion of the US today.  As a result, we are seeing some significant rainfall today across a majority of the region.  Hawksnest has already seen almost a quarter inch of rain today.  As the system movies to the northeast today, the rain will continue through tomorrow morning.  The possibility of an isolated thunderstorm does exist for tonight and tomorrow morning as a cold front will cross through the region, creating additional upward lifting of air ahead of it.  Final rainfall amounts will be between a quarter and half an inch at most locations.   The precipitation is much needed as we are already in a deficit for the year and a good soaking is just what the doctor ordered.  Strong winds behind the front are expected for Friday afternoon.  Gusts could reach 50 mph at some locations.  Saturday and Sunday will be pleasant, with above average temperatures and mostly sunny skies.  Another system arrives Sunday night, bringing the possibility of more rain.  Check out your location’s individual forecast for more detailed information.
