High Country NC Weather Forecast 6-25-12

Another day of warm, muggy weather is in store for today. The good news though is that a cold front will move through the region later this evening, bringing cooler and drier air along with it. A few scattered showers/thunderstorms are possible later today but nothing significant is expected.

Tuesday and Wednesday will offer a brief break from the unseasonably warm weather we’ve seen lately. Canadian high pressure settles in and we’ll see some rather gorgeous weather. Sunny skies and high temperatures in the 70’s will make for a pleasant few days.

Unfortunately, the warmest temperatures of the year thus far will move in for the weekend. A strong upper level ridge will nudge it’s way into the region from the Great Plains. High temperatures will once again be back in the 80’s on Thursday. Friday and Saturday could very well see the mercury hit 90 degrees for some locations. It’s going to be HOT!

Tropical Storm Debby continues to meander down in the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida panhandle. Rainfall totals yesterday were rather impressive for areas around Tampa. At this time, Debby isn’t expected to impact our weather. The cold front that moves through today will help keep the storm at bay, and over the next several days it is expected to track east into the Atlantic.
